Marketplace Rules and Prohibited Offerings

1. Core listing standards

• Offer only items or services you are legally permitted, qualified, equipped, and available to provide.
• Use accurate titles, categories, images, prices, conditions, availability, locations, and policy disclosures.
• Disclose material risks, prerequisites, deposits, recurring charges, supplies, travel fees, and cancellation terms before booking.
• Do not create duplicate, misleading, keyword-stuffed, discriminatory, or off-topic listings.
• Do not direct users to unsafe links, request account credentials, or disguise a prohibited offering as another category.

2. Prohibited goods

• Alcohol; tobacco; nicotine products; controlled substances; drug paraphernalia; prescription drugs; and products marketed for intoxication.
• Firearms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, weapon parts, or other weapons and dangerous devices.
• Stolen, counterfeit, recalled, unsafe, illegally imported, or unlawfully copied goods.
• Government identification, university credentials, access cards, keys, passwords, accounts, tickets obtained unlawfully, or personal data.
• Pornography, sexual-content products, exploitative content, intimate images shared without consent, or content involving minors.
• Hazardous chemicals, regulated biological materials, pesticides offered unlawfully, or products requiring specialized handling Cove has not approved.
• Animals, wildlife products, or regulated goods offered contrary to law or campus rules.

3. Prohibited services

• Sexual services, escorting, exploitation, trafficking, or requests for intimate content.
• Academic cheating, impersonation, exam taking, plagiarism, falsification, credential sharing, or unauthorized access to school systems.
• Passenger transportation, vehicle rental, delivery of prohibited items, or access to dorm rooms, homes, vehicles, or accounts for unlawful purposes.
• Childcare, elder care, unsupervised care of vulnerable people, or services requiring background screening that Cove has not approved.
• Medical diagnosis or treatment, prescription activity, invasive procedures, injectables, tattooing, piercing, or other regulated health or body services unless Cove expressly approves the category and required credentials are verified.
• Legal, financial, investment, tax, mental-health, or other licensed professional advice represented as professional services without required authorization.
• Hazardous construction, electrical, gas, roofing, structural, environmental-remediation, or other regulated trade work without required licensing and insurance.
• Scams, pyramid schemes, gambling, money transmission, debt collection, account rental, deceptive recruiting, or schemes primarily designed to move money outside legitimate transactions.
• Harassment, surveillance, doxxing, retaliation, intimidation, violence, discrimination, or any service intended to harm or deceive another person.

4. Restricted and higher-risk categories

Cove may require preapproval, additional disclosures, proof of licensing or insurance, sanitation procedures, age restrictions, or category-specific rules for food, beauty, fitness, pet care, moving, event services, home access, transportation of property, or any offering that presents elevated health, property, or safety risk.

Food providers are responsible for required permits, allergen disclosures, sanitation, temperature control, labeling, and compliance with campus and public-health rules. Beauty and fitness providers must stay within their lawful training and scope and disclose material risks.

5. Pricing and commercial conduct

• Display the total known price or a clear, truthful basis for calculating it.
• Do not add undisclosed mandatory fees after a buyer commits.
• Do not manipulate availability, reviews, discounts, or urgency.
• Do not misuse refunds, deposits, chargebacks, or payment requests to deceive another user.
• Do not require payment through gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, or other unusually risky methods as a condition of a routine campus service.

6. Enforcement and reporting

Cove may remove or restrict content, request documentation, pause a booking, warn users, suspend accounts, or report conduct when Cove reasonably believes a rule may have been violated. Enforcement decisions may consider severity, evidence, history, cooperation, and risk.
